Youtube Presents Video Streaming Marketplace

YouTube doesn't want to be left behind by companies like Apple and Amazon in providing services. Recently the company was rumored to be presenting a system that would allow users to subscribe to other streaming services through the app.

YouTube's new system is called a channel store, which will function like a marketplace. Through the store, users can subscribe to other streaming platforms via the main YouTube app, reports Tech Crunch.

This channel store was worked on for 18 months, and it was announced that it would be released this year. Currently, YouTube is in talks with several entertainment companies to discuss the distribution of commissions or subscription revenue.

In fact, YouTube already has a similar service through YouTube TV that allows its users to subscribe to streaming apps like HBO Max, Starz, Showtime, as well as a number of other channels and services.

Streaming platform provider

YouTube's steps to make this channel store are considered reasonable. Moreover, the company has given a signal that such a system will appear in the future.

“YouTube can be a great partner there,” said Christian Oestlien, YouTube VP of Product Management.

For the YouTube business, the plan is clearly a strategic move. The reason is, the platform will save more from trimming the amount of original content. Access to other streaming services will undoubtedly create an income channel for him.

As an intermediary between the streaming provider and the subscriber, YouTube will quote a percentage of the subscription fee. And for streaming platform partners, the number of YouTube users reaching 2 billion per month will be an attractive offer to reach more subscribers.

In addition to YouTube, a media company that wants to earn revenue from streaming services is Roku, which has now provided premium Paramount+ subscription services in its application. Retail giant Walmart has announced that it has partnered with Paramount+ to provide Walmart+ customers with Paramount+ Essential subscriptions at no additional cost.

Amazon and Apple also offer other platforms' streaming subscription marketplaces. Take, for example, the streaming platform HBO Max, which reportedly reached 4.5 million subscribers through Amazon Channels.
