Kang Creates Council of Kang as a Trap

Here's How Kang the Conqueror Kills Variants!

As a time traveler, Kang the Conqueror is Marvel's big bad villain who has the most variants in the multiverse. Both in Marvel Comics and in the MCU, he really doesn't really care about that. Unlike most superheroes who are usually friendly with their variants. Kang actually considers the variants as a threat. So that he will not hesitate to kill his own variant, while remaining a threatening figure for the universe.

Interestingly, in Marvel Comics itself, actually Kang has found the most efficient and effective way to be the only Kang the Conqueror. Of course, this method can only be thought of by the true Kang, who already firmly believes that he is the strongest, smartest, and cunning of all the variants. Without further ado, let's just talk about how Kang the Conqueror exterminated his variants in the Marvel Universe!

Kang Creates Council of Kang as a Trap

In its history, Kang is known as a very manipulative and ambitious figure. Marvel first introduced the figure of Kang the Conqueror in Avengers #8 (1964). The character, whose real name is Nathaniels Richards, initially never thought of becoming a villain. His life begins to change when he discovers an ancient time machine created by Doctor Doom, which he eventually upgrades to fulfill his own desires. It was at this point that he did a lot of time travel until he gave birth to many variants in the Marvel multiverse.

Long story short, after learning that there are many variants of Kang in the multiverse, he started to establish the Council of Kang. It was first revealed in Avengers #267 (1986), 22 years after his debut in the Marvel Universe. To further his goals, he appointed two variants of Kang who were willing to cooperate with him as 'judges' in the Council of Kang. The Council of Kang itself is located in Limbo, a dimension that is outside the timeline. That's why not many Kang variants are aware of its existence. From then on, Kang and his two judges began to monitor the timeline as a whole.

In the process if Kang found a variant that was weaker than him, then he would immediately take it to the Council of Kang. After explaining their aim to 'select' the weaker variant, the true Kang along with his two judges would immediately kill the variant. This Kang had been doing for a very long time, even counting how many weak variants he had killed. What the two judges did not know was that Kang secretly also intended to kill the two variants.

Finally Only One True Kang Left

Kang secretly lures one of his judges into a room in the Council of Kang. How surprised the judge was after knowing that all this time his superior, the true Kang, had made the bodies of his weak variants as Kang's robot army. Before he could tell the other judge, the real Kang came and killed him. The same fate also befell the other judge. Where Kang finally manages to shoot him when the Avengers try to stop him.

In the end, only one true Kang remained to finish off the Avengers. However, in the midst of the battle, a variant of Kang from the future appears named Immortus. He tells true Kang that all of this is his plan to prepare for the next Immortus. To prove this point, Immortus even shows off the Psyche-Globe, which contains the memories of every variant killed. The moment he touched the Psyche-Globe, Kang's mind was immediately filled with all the variant memories. With thoughts raging, the real Kang then ran away.

Although in the end Kang followed all of Immortus' plans, but he has proven how the most effective and efficient way to exterminate variants in the multiverse. The Council of Kang is proof that Kang will do everything he can to achieve his goals. In the MCU itself, there is actually an organization that works similarly to the Council of Kang, namely TVA. So it's not impossible that in the future Kang the Conqueror in the MCU will also do the same as in the comics. Where he will try to exterminate the variants until only himself is left.
