James Gunn Claims DCU is Better than MCU

 For years, Marvel and DC have been competing to create a cinematic universe filled with their favorite superheroes and villains. Marvel with its MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), while DC came with the DCU (DC Universe). If the MCU is still rolling with the original plan, it's different with the DC Universe. The reason is that recently, the DC Universe underwent a complete overhaul, which was carried out by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

So, in the press conference that was just held, James Gunn wanted to make sure that the MCU and DC Universe would be very different. Even though both are still about superheroes and each project is related to each other, there are many differences presented. Apart from that, James Gunn also mentions DC Universe identities that are not owned by the MCU, as he mentions below.

“A lot of people think it (DC Universe) is going to be Marvel 2.0. And of course I learned a lot of things at Marvel, you know. I think we (DC Universe and MCU) will have a lot of differences. I think one of the reasons why I love DC is because it's really another universe, it's an alternative world.” Says James Gunn.

James Gunn then added, “You know at Marvel, generally it's New York, Chicago, San Francisco and other places. Here in the DC Universe, we have Metropolis, Gotham, Themyscira, Atlantis and Bialya. They are in a fictional universe and this is the world we created. We've come to a world where superheroes have existed, and have existed for a long time."

Indeed, through what was revealed by James Gunn, there is a big difference between the MCU and the DC Universe. The MCU begins in a real world without superheroes. And slowly, the world began to be filled with several superheroes, until finally dozens of these superheroes formed a team to protect the Earth. Director Leaves, Dune Prequel Filming Postponed
