These 5 Marvel Superheroes Can't Join the MCU
The Marvel Universe is a comic universe in which there are many interesting characters ranging from superheroes to supervillains. Considering that Marvel is now more than eight decades old, the number of characters they have introduced through various comic stories has been countless. Where most of the iconic characters have also been introduced one by one in the live action universe of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, out of the many Marvel characters, there are at least five superheroes who cannot join the MCU due to property rights issues.
Red Sonya
Red Sonja is one of the medieval superheroes who first made his Marvel debut in the comic Conan the Barbarian. Because of his popularity, this tough character who is known to be quite open then had his own solo comic and also took part in the Marvel Team-Up crossover comic with Spider-Man. Even after her solo story ended, in the 90s Red Sonja continued to act in various Marvel stories. Unfortunately, now the rights to this beautiful superhero have been sold to Dynamite Entertainment, so the potential for Red Sonja's appearance in the MCU is very small.
Powdered Toast Man
As the name implies, Powdered Toast Man is a strange superhero from the story of Ren & Stimpy who has the appearance of a toast man. Ren & Stimpy himself is an odd animal icon from Nicktoon aka Nickelodeon Cartoon who was once part of the Marvel Comics family in the 90s. Through one of his comic stories, Powdered Toast Man was once told to fight with Marvel's mainstay web slinger, Spider-Man. Unfortunately, even though Spider-Man currently exists in the MCU, the same thing will not happen to the superhero Toast Man because now Marvel is no longer working with Nicktoon to work on the story of Ren & Stimpy.
Rom the Space Knight
In the 70s Marvel Comics introduced a number of new characters adapted from popular American toys. One of them is a robot superhero named Rom the Space Knight, from toy company Parker Brothers, who made his Marvel debut in the comic ROM: SpaceKnight. In addition to the solo story that tells of his adventure against the evil alien nation Dire Wraith, Rom also appeared in Secret Wars II, where he met a number of Avengers members. However, now that Hasbro has bought the Parker Brothers, this means that a superhero as cool as Rom will not be able to enter the MCU because he has left Marvel.
Doc Savage
Before it became as famous as it is now, during the Silver Age of comics, Marvel was still experimenting quite a lot with the stories in its comic universe. They did this on purpose to make their comics sell well in the market. One of the efforts they made was to present the classic superhero Doc Savage, who was already well-known among pulp fiction fans. This superhero who is famous for his physical strength was even told to work with The Thing from Fantastic Four. However, now that Marvel has lost the rights to the Doc Savage property, it is absolutely impossible for this powerful superhero to appear in the MCU.
Conan of Cimmeria
Conan the Barbarian, who is now famous among Marvel fans as a member of the Savage Avengers named Conan of Cimmeria, is the last superhero on this list who seems to have a very difficult time joining the MCU. Although the character debuted in Marvel Comics in 1970 and then returned in 2021 with the Savage Avengers saga, now the rights to the character have been sold by Marvel to Titan Books. So becoming a member of the Avengers in the future of the MCU doesn't seem easy, because Marvel Studios might prefer popular characters who are now clearly part of Marvel Comics.
Those are five Marvel superheroes that seem to be very difficult to appear in the MCU cinema universe. Although currently a number of stories from the characters are still part of the Marvel Comics collection, to present a new story in the MCU is a completely different thing. Because if you want to do that, maybe Marvel Studios must first make a deal that isn't cheap, considering that the MCU is currently very popular. So it would be better for the studio to bring characters that are easier to bring in from Marvel Comics to the MCU, not from outside Marvel.
